External Transactions Circulars


External transactions circulars are being issued to agents licensed to deal in foreign exchange in terms of article 23 of the Central Bank of Malta Act (Cap. 204) to enable the Bank to collect the statistical information required under article 8 of the External Transactions Act (Cap. 233). These Circulars stipulate the reporting procedures that must be followed when the said agents effect external transactions on behalf of resident customers. The Circulars will continue to be reviewed and revised in the light of the statistical requirements of the authorities.

Official forms in connection with reporting requirements

The forms which agents are obliged to submit weekly on behalf of resident customers to the Central Bank of Malta in terms of article 23 of the Central Bank of Malta Act (Cap. 204) are the following:

ETA1: Foreign currency portfolio investment (81kb)

ETA2: Repatriation of foreign currency portfolio investment (74kb)

ETA3: Foreign direct investment/repatriation of foreign direct investment (72kb)

ETA4: Investment in real estate overseas/ repatriation of proceeds from sale of real estate overseas (70kb)

ETA5: Selected outward payments (73kb)

ETA6: Loans and credits from non-residents (82kb)

ETA7: Loans and credits extended to non-residents (82kb)

ETA8: Guarantees to non-residents
