This section of the website contains the ECB's reference rates which are published daily normally at 2.15pm as well as indicative middle exchange rates for selected other currencies, including gold and silver, which are not quoted by the ECB but which the Central Bank of Malta publishes daily for the benefit of the Maltese business community.

This section also contains average exchange rates as well as an archive of both foreign and average exchange rates. For the convenience of users who want to use statistics from January 1990 to December 2007 for cross-border comparison or aggregation, the Central Bank of Malta is publishing end-of-period, and average monthly and annual Lm/euro market exchange rates from January 1999 (when the euro came into existence), and Lm/ECU rates as a proxy for Lm/euro rates for those periods when the euro was not yet in existence.
